Families First Carmarthenshire
Families First is an early intervention programme that offers support and guidance to families with children & young people aged 0-25 years, particularly those who are disadvantaged.
The programme aims to help:
Fourteen projects deliver Families First across the whole of Carmarthenshire. They offer:
- Working age people in low income families to gain & progress within employment.
- Children, young people & families, in or at risk of poverty, to achieve their potential.
- Children, young people & families to be healthy & enjoy well-being.
- Families to be confident, nurturing, resilient & safe.
Support in the Community
Family Centres, Family Groups and Integrated Children’s Centres offer support for mums, dads and carers to give children the best start in life. They are based across the county and provide early year’s activities, training and play.
Home based Support
Assistance with parenting and family life. Support for children experiencing the effects of domestic abuse. Opportunities to volunteer as a home visitor offering families emotional and practical support.
Specialist parenting work, one to one support to access mainstream pre-school settings, after school and holiday groups and specific groups for 11-19 year olds.
Support for Young People and their Families
Support for 11 - 25 year olds who are not in employment, education or training. Includes support for Young Carers.
